Day to day itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Dar es Salaam

Arrive at the Dar es Salaam International Airport where you’ll be met and transferred to the Oyster Bay Hotel in the port town of Dar es Salaam. The hotel faces the ocean and has a private, homely atmosphere, perfect for your first night in Tanzania. Settle in and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, in anticipation of your adventure.

Days 2-4

Discover the Selous

Enjoy an early breakfast at Oyster Bay before transferring back to the Dar es Salaam International Airport where you will board a short flight to the Selous Game Reserve. On arrival, a camp driver will be waiting to take you to the Sand Rivers Selous Camp, an intimate safari lodge in this vast and beautiful wilderness.

Enjoy a delicious lunch before heading off on your first exciting game drive.
The following two days will also be dedicated to discovering the resident animals and far-stretching landscapes of the Selous Game Reserve.

Located in the southern Serengeti, the reserve attracts wildlife from both eastern and southern Africa, creating a wonderful opportunity to view a wide and interesting variety of wildlife. Be especially on the lookout for large pods of hippo and herds of elephants around the reserve’s intricate waterways.

Return to the camp in the afternoon to marvel at the spectacular sunsets while sipping on a refreshing drink.

Days 5-6

Explore the Ruaha National Park

Enjoy one last breakfast in the Selous before heading off to the Kiba Airstrip in time for your flight to Ruaha National Park. A transfer will take you to your accommodation for the following two nights – Jongomero Camp.

Here you will enjoy a lovely lunch before going on an afternoon game. When you return to the camp, dinner will await you and you can enjoy a relaxed evening on the banks of the Jongomero River.

The following day you will enjoy more game drives to spot the resident wildlife. As you drive through the park, be especially on the lookout for predators as they reside on the dry, open hillsides.

You can also look forward to seeing large herds of antelope and buffalo roaming the plains. Furthermore, this park is particularly renowned for its prolific birdlife.

Day 7

Stay on a working coffee plantation

After breakfast you will transfer to the Jongomero Airstrip and board your flight to Arusha. From here, a transfer will take you to the Arusha Coffee Lodge. This small, sophisticated hotel is built on a working coffee plantation.

Sit back and enjoy the stunning views of Mount Meru from your private balcony or relax beside the pool before sitting down to a delicious dinner under the trees.

Days 8-10

Go chimp trekking in the Mahale Mountains

After breakfast at Arusha Coffee Lodge, you will transfer back to the Arusha Airstrip for a scheduled flight to Mahale Mountains National Park. From the airport you will be taken to Greystoke Mahale Camp, situated on a white sandy beach at the foot of the mountains and overlooking Lake Tanganyika – the longest freshwater lake in Tanzania.

Its location makes it ideal for both chimp trekking and a relaxing beach holiday. Go on a chimp trekking excursion and see these impressive animals eat, sleep and play in their natural environment as you follow them around on foot. Return to the camp to enjoy water sports like snorkelling, fishing or kayaking.

Day 11

Reach the end of the journey

After breakfast, you’ll transfer to the airstrip for your short flight to Arusha. Once here, you’ll fly to Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward travel plans.
