Overview

Start your 13-day expedition in Malawi with an overnight stay at one of its finest hotels. We have reserved your stay at Tongole Wilderness Lodge. Here you will witness a huge variety of wildlife.

 

For the next stop of your trip planned in your itinerary, we will take you to Kaya Mawa Lodge. This lodge is located at Likoma Island. Here you will enjoy your days at the beautiful sandy beach.

 

Your next destination will be Lake Malawi where you will stay at Norman Carr Cottage. This lake is famous for its picturesque cichlids. You can spend a glorious time snorkeling and scuba diving in this lake.

 

The next stopover will be at Liwonde National Park. You’ll be taken on guided game drives where you will come across the magnificent world of its birds and animals.

 

Your next stay will be at Mkulumadzi Lodge, inside the Majete Wildlife Reserve. You will get to observe the marvelous Kapichira Falls when we take you on a boat cruise. You will also get the chance to experience game viewing in our arranged jeep.

 

Your second to last stop will be the Satemwa Tea Estate. You will spend two wonderful days going on a guided tour of Thyolo Mountain’s native forest. Your stay will be arranged at the impressive Huntingdon House.

 

Your grand Malawian journey will come to its end when you reach your abode in Zomba Forest Lodge. This guesthouse is made among the forests. If you wish to go for some outdoor activities, the Zomba Plateau will be an ideal place to go for hiking, fishing and mountain biking.

Itinerary

Day 1

Reaching Malawi

Once you have arrived, we will welcome you and take you by road to your wonderful hotel Latitude 13. Here, you will be served in one of Malawi’s finest restaurants. Make yourself comfortable in your spacious room or enjoy their fully stocked bar.

 

Day 2

Exploring Nkhotakota’s Wildlife

After your scrumptious breakfast, we will take you by road to Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve where you’ll stay at Tongole Wilderness Lodge. Our expert guide will be there to take you on your canoe adventure in the Bua River while making sure you catch the view of the unbelievable variety of the fish species. If you prefer, our guide will take you on a hike along the lakeside where you can watch all fish species in Lake Malawi.

 

Day 3

Departing for Likoma Aerodrome

We will fly you to Likoma Aerodrome where you will spend two nights at Kaya Mawa. You are free to explore and do as you wish.

 

Day 4

Beach retreat

Be mesmerized by the sceneries around you and spend a splendid day on the beach.

 

Day 5

Exploring Norman Carr Cottage

On this day, you will board your flight to Mtakataka. On your arrival, we will transport you by road to Norman Carr Cottage, situated on the southern shore of Lake Malawi. Along the way, you can stop at the Kungoni Centre of Culture & Art. Here, you can look around the museum’s interesting exhibits and have your lunch.

Once you reach your cottage, you are free to do as you wish. You have private access to the beach where you can go for snorkeling and diving in the bay. You can also take an expedition on the lodge’s motorboat and go out for a ride. Paddle on a canoe and learn all about the marine life around you.

 

Days 6-7

Adventure at Liwonde National Park

The next stop planned for you by road will be Mvuu Wilderness Lodge, located in Liwonde National Park. Your suite will give you the feeling of an authentic African experience. We have organized 4×4 game drives for you to encounter the unbelievable birds and animals that live here in this stunning reserve. You will get to sightsee the amazing birdlife, especially the Yellow-billed and marabou storks.

 

Be hypnotized as you watch pods of hippos along the Shire River, while crocodiles sunbath on the riverbank. Not to mention, the herds of elephant and Black rhinos that you will spot will leave you mesmerized. We will be taking you on a guided walking safari to get a close-up of the plants and small mammals. If desired, a boat trip across the river to visit Ndovu Cultural Village will also be arranged.

 

Days 8-9

Majete Wildlife Reserve

For this leg of your trip, you will be taken for an intimate safari retreat to the Majete Wildlife Reserve at Mkulumadzi Lodge. You will be taken by road to your lodge. Your abode will be located on a private concession, so you can peacefully enjoy your walks to the Kapichira Falls, or watch game viewing from your open-fronted room.

 

Days 10-11

Lodging Satemwa Tea Estate

After your breakfast, you will be taken to Satemwa Tea Estate where you will stay at Huntingdon House. This region is most famous for being Malawi’s tea-producing district. Learn all about the history while trying their wide range of first-rate tea. Enjoy the view, as the sun sets over Mount Mulanje. Our expert guide will be there to take you on a tour of Thyolo Mountain for you to explore the birdlife in their natural habitat. We have also arranged a visit to the Satemwa tea factory for you to witness the production process of Malawi’s finest export quality tea. We will also make sure that you have a cup.

 

Day 12

The forest of Zomba

As your adventure comes to its end, we will take you to your last stop of the trip by road to Zomba Forest Lodge. This is a small guesthouse built in the middle of the forests of Zomba Plateau and is a haven for those who seek tranquility or are outdoor fanatics. This location is ideal, as there is a plateau nearby that is perfect for going on hiking or mountain biking. Make the most of your last day here by exploring the genuine wilderness and sitting around the open fire for dinner under the sky filled with shining stars.

 

Day 13

Back to Home

Once you have eaten your breakfast, we will take you by road to Lilongwe International Airport where you can take your connecting flight back home.
