Day to day itinerary

Day 1

Your journey begins with your arrival at the Kigali International Airport referred commonly as kanombe Airport. Enjoy a scenic helicopter ride that leaves you off at the Virunga Lodge in Volcanoes National Park. Carefully secured on a high ridge, your stay at the Virunga Lodge which promises scenic views of the two famous lakes in the region: Lake Bulera and Rhonda. Spend your first day settling and soaking in views of surrounding volcanoes and the great African landscapes. Enjoy a rejuvenating massage or take a quick walk to the lakes, as you prepare yourself for an adventure that lies ahead.

 

Day 2

Prepare yourself to spend an entire day observing a mountain gorilla family in their natural habitat. Depending on the weather and to how far the gorillas have moved, trek your way through a mountain forest within the Volcanoes National Park under the guidance of professional guide and trackers. Experience watching the young gorillas play and the adults communicating through almost human-like actions and expressions.

 

Day 3

If you’re lucky enough, there may be a chance that you could go gorilla trekking again. If that is perhaps not the case, spend your day spotting other African classics that inhibit the region. Enjoy a filling breakfast before going on a trip to explore Rwanda’s famous golden monkey. Found usually in groups of thirty, these unique primates are a must see. Add some time to relax during the day and head to the sandy beaches on Lake Kivu.

 

Looking for a little adventure? Visit the primatologist Dian Fossey’s grave and the very famous gorilla cemetery found by her. Spend your day exploring all that Rwanda has to offer and visit a traditional Rwandan village located by the Lake Bulera and visit the Imbabazi Orphanage.

 

Day 4

Bid farewell to the Virunga Lodge, as you head back to the helipad to board on your helicopter flight to Kigali’s Kanombe Airport. From here, you board your flight back home.
