Overview
Meaning “tranquil” in the local Tsonga language, &Beyond Tengile River Lodge is situated in a serene setting, on a bend of the Sand River. Here, elegant interiors are complimented by exquisite modern finishes, and inviting, intimate spaces encourage a sense solitude whilst pockets of open space are designed for group gatherings.
Built with an extremely light footprint, Tengile will feature nine suites that are raised above ground level to give the impression that they are floating over the riverbed, providing exceptional views from the dappled shade of a cool riverine forest. The spacious suites will offer sunken lounges, elegant bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms (with indoor and al fresco showers) that open out into the forest, creating private spaces in the open air.
Following the curve of the river bank, each area of the lodge will offer magnificent river views. A beautiful massage and gym area offer a haven of tranquillity where guests can spend the entire day relaxing in between game drives.
Sustainability lies at the heart of the new lodge’s form and function. Environmentally friendly construction materials have been selected with durability in mind. Automation is being put into place to reduce the use of electricity and the use of solar power has been combined with various procedures designed to increase efficiency both during the build phase and after.

Air-conditioned floating suites overlook the river and feature private decks with lap pools and sunken outdoor lounges. Elegant interiors are complemented by amenities like in-room safes, personal bars, outdoor showers and Wi-Fi access. En-suite bathrooms are equipped with showers and bathtubs, and open out onto the forest.
There is one Family Suite which consists of two suites with interleading doors and can accommodate a family of two adults and two children.

Tengile River Lodge is a warm and contemporary safari lodge situated in the sublime Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve. This reserve is part of a conservation area that is the size of the state of New Jersey and shares unfenced boundaries with the iconic Kruger National Park – home to the biggest diversity of wildlife in South Africa. Sabi Sands delivers some of the finest Big 5 safari experiences in Africa and is renowned for its exceptional leopard sightings.
Go on early morning and late afternoon game drives in a reserve with strict vehicle limits, which ensures the exclusivity of your game viewing experience and superb animal sightings. It is not unusual to see all members of the Big 5 on the same day here.
An elegant spa offers guests a tranquil retreat in between game drives, and a well-equipped gym provides active guests space for a good workout.
