Overview

The Serena Mivumo River Lodge is located in Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania and rests by the Rufiji Riverbank. It overlooks the Stiegler’s Gorge and open doors to an incredible wildlife reserve that is four times the size of the entire Serengeti making it even larger than the country of Switzerland. The reserve houses a large population of elephants, and over a hundred and twenty different species of birds making it an excellent spot for bird enthusiasts. The lodge offers exciting safari adventures along with game drives and walking safaris allowing close encounters with the African wilderness. The lodges provide a romantic environment within the wild and allows guests to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing adventure in the wild.

Facilities

The Lodge is equipped with all facilities and amenities to make your stay a comfortable one. The central areas of the lodge are made up of classic chalets overlooking the river where you are likely to spot hippos and elephants. The dining room has an open side to allow viewing the tremendous nature all around. The lodge is equipped with a comfortable lounge, bar and an infinity pool to avail indoor entertainment. The lodge also has a viewing sun deck where you can catch some sun or overview the amazing white waters of Stiegler’s Gorge. You are provided game drives, walking safaris and boating excursions where you encounter magnificent birdlife, crocodiles, and hippos.

Dining at the Serena Lodge is an amazing experience. The dining area is an open-sided hall which is raised on a wooden deck. You receive different and exciting views of the river and the wild around it during your meal times. The breakfast is served in buffet style where a blend of continental, European and English cuisines are included. Lunch is also a buffet where your menu is the meat of different kinds, including chicken, beef, and fish, along with vegetables so all taste-buds can be satisfied. Dinner is the highlight of the lodge, and a five-course East African cuisine is served for you to feast. Vegetarian options are always available, and all ingredients used in preparing these dishes are locally sourced fresh ingredients. Beverages on the menu stretch from fresh fruit juices to Tanzanian coffee, tea, and wines.

The residential area of the Serena Lodge is completed with only twelve chalets. This provides the guests; exclusivity, and privacy. Attentive service is provided within the rooms. Each room is well spaced and an ideal for providing a tranquil environment. Each room is equipped with leather furniture and safari decorations, spacious bathrooms with bathtubs and outdoor showers, and a private sundeck which in some cases is replaced by a private Jacuzzi. All chalets are air-conditioned and provide you with an excellent view of the magnificent surroundings.
