The Ruzizi Tented Lodge has one of the most spectacular waterfront destinations present at the Lake Thema. Set amongst swaying palms and huge fig trees is the main lodge sitting and dining areas, with a short boardwalk leading down to a large viewing deck overlooking Lake Thema. A huge campfire is lit every night on the huge deck which adds to the stunning ambiance of this peaceful lakeside retreat. The entire camp solely runs on solar-powered panels and the profits are returned into long-term sustainability of the Akagera National Park.

Meals are mostly served on a large verandah which overlooks the glorious lake with a fire burning in the center at dinner time. The alfresco atmosphere is further enhanced by this. The local Rwandan dishes for instance sambaza (small fish) and urwagwa (banana beer) are available for guests to try out. Breakfast every day is served early.

Every one of the luxurious tented suites has been separately constructed amongst the lush foliage. These suites can be accessed by using the wooden walkways. The huge suites have an in-room bathroom with both hot and cold running water, a dressing area along with spacious dressing area and either a queen-sized bed or two twin beds. The small patio outside is available for guests to sit down and enjoy the calmness and tranquility of the lush forests.
