Ol Jogi

Overview

A group of lavish cottages rest under magnificent shade trees. Ol Jogi sits on a family-operated wildlife conservancy on the famous Laikipia Plateau in Kenya. It is home to roughly 7000 large mammals including the Big 5. The conservancy is home to the world’s largest population of endangered Grevy’s zebra, and large numbers of other endangered animals. The center focus of the conservancy is wildlife protection as there is a vet nary clinic, wildlife sanctuary and wildlife rehabilitation center. During your stay you can walk with rescued elephants, and may even be invited on a vet nary intervention. The suites are built around the lodge’s central house, which has a friendly and household atmosphere and is decorated with the owner’s private art collection.

Start your morning on the verandah that overlooks an active waterhole and if you want to get close to the wildlife you can through an underground tunnel that leads to the waterhole hide. When the weather is clear, look out for the beautiful and magnificent Mount Kenya in the distance. Ol Jogi prides itself on creating modified activities for its guests and the service offered is exceptional as many staff members have been at the lodge for decades. Explore by 4X4, on foot and by horseback. Guests on a longer stay might even like to spend the day exploring the Rift Valley’s great lakes and canyons by helicopter. A world-class French chef takes care of the camp’s meals while senior rangers and community managers are on hand to ensure your requests are met, whether it is for a photographic game drive, a visit to a local village or a star-lit camp out away from the lodge.
