Hidden in a private hunting lease, the Hyena Pan Tented Camp is a great choice for travelers looking for an exclusive safari off the Okavango Delta. The field is located in the Khwai River area, a wildlife-rich area adjacent to the Moremi hunting grounds, home to elephants, buffaloes, hippos, big cats, wild dogs and, of course, that is all year round. This area lets you explore both the 350,000-hectare private conservancy and the Moremi on safari, as well as you can enjoy licensed activities such as night sightings and guided hikes in Moremi.

Hyena Pan Tented Camp is a small and intimate property consisting of only eight suites, each with an en-suite bathroom. It is a relatively simple but comfortable and well- designed area. Children over the age of eight are welcome at the camp, though there are no special facilities for them.

Hyena Pan focuses on flexibility and diversity. You can spend the whole day in Moremi (with a packed lunch) watching the wildlife close up to the photographic stamp of the field or going for a walk with an expert guide. The highlight is a night on a “bed of paradise,” a large and luxurious sleeping platform set over the water, which makes it an unforgettable experience in Africa.

Facilities

Hyena Pan Tented Camp is a simple yet comfortable facility built around the main salon, bar and indoor and outdoor dining rooms. There are two outdoor seating areas which provide the view of the waterfront, as well as a small library and a pool with comfortable sun loungers. The field is powered by solar energy and has battery charging stations and wireless Internet access in the main room.

One of the best facilities in the area is its private water spot, illuminated at night for spectacular wildlife viewing, ground-level surroundings provide unbeatable close-up photography and wildlife viewing.

Dining

All meals and a selection of cool drinks, local beer, and wine, tea, and coffee are included in Hyena Pan Tented Camp in the all-inclusive rate. All meals are served together in the main field, except on special request.

The day starts early with tea, coffee, and a light breakfast before your morning safari begins, after which you will return to the Lunch Camp. Afternoon tea is served, after which you can enjoy your second safari activity with drinks and snacks at sunset. When you return to the camp, you can enjoy a drink near the fireplace before settling down for a three-course meal, which will be served so you can spend some quality time under the stars.

The eight tented suites provide simple yet elegant comfort. Each is fitted with two single beds and has a private bathroom with a heated gas shower. Solar energy takes care of the lighting and offers you your battery charging station.

Each tent has plenty of storage space and an electronic safe for your valuables. There is also a small outdoor area with chairs to sit and enjoy the view.

SKYBEDs

Hyena Pan Tented Camp offers you an unforgettable night in one of the heavenly beds. Away from the area and overlooking an active watering hole. There within five feet of the ground and consist of two levels: a bathroom on the ground floor and a bedroom with a terrace overlooking the water point. There is also a simple dining room and a campfire where you can sit and view the sights and hear the sounds of Africa at night.

With such spectacular skies, you may be forgiven for forgetting what is happening on the ground. Sightings could include wild dogs, lions, elephants, and hyenas!
