Gombe Forest Lodge

Overview

With accommodation in an exclusive tent for just 14 guests, this authentic safari camp is located on the north shore of Lake Tanganyika in Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania, which is known for its dense population of chimpanzees.

A walking safari to track down the chimpanzee is active through this ancient emerald forest which offers guests a unique animal experience in close contact.

But chimpanzees are not the only primates in Gombe, beware of baboons, red-tailed monkeys, hippos and leopards, which can also be seen in the park.

Since the field is located on Tanganyika, the second largest and deepest freshwater lake in the world where you can go for diving and fishing. More than 200 species of birds make this paradise an ideal place to visit.

Overview

The Gombe Forest Lodge has a combined lounge and dining room above the forest floor and offers spectacular views of the lake, jungle and mountains. Relax on the sun loungers on the white sands of the lake.

Snorkeling gear is available for those who want to explore the incredible diversity of life beneath the surface of the water. Or you can enjoy quiet walks to the two waterfalls, Mkenke and Kakombe which are within the park boundaries, you can also go for cultural visits to the fishing village of Kigomo.

Campsites and its facilities are available for children up to 12 years, but children under 15 years are not allowed to go hiking.

Dining

The camp’s dining area is built on a wooden platform with an extended outside deck which is shaded by the forest with just a few steps from the shore. Breakfast includes cereals and fruit, as well as the English dishes.

Late morning snacks are also prepared for safaris. Lunch and dinner are 3-course dishes based on fish, pasta, meat dishes and international cuisine.

Romantic barbecues by the lake are an unforgettable way to watch the sunset and falling stars.

The accommodation consists of comfortable and spacious Tarzan-style tents on wooden platforms that stand on the forest floor and in the shade of giant mango trees.

Each room is decorated in a typical African style and features a private terrace with locally crafted furniture such as a coffee table and chairs which gives the charming view of the forest.

The rooms are equipped with a double bed or 4-poster beds with mosquito nets and electrical appliances with charging sockets. The private bathrooms have a toilet and hot showers.
