This peaceful and luxurious lodge is situated on a gorgeous island in the huge Zambezi River. A simple drive from the stunning Victoria Falls, guests can take an active part in the thrilling adventures and excitement of ‘The Smoke Which Thunders’ and return to Chundu Island to enjoy complete seclusion and unspoiled nature. The riverine woodlands of the island are occasionally visited by hippos and elephants and are also a permanent home to the Nyla antelopes, monkeys and numerous species of birds such as the rare Schalow’s turaco.
On safari drives (or even when they are on foot with a skilled and proficient guide) guests will have the opportunity to explore the recurrent beaches, swamplands, forests and plains of the world-famous Zambezi National Park. Experience tracking the wildlife for instance buffalos, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, rare sable antelopes, lions, and leopards. Sighting hippos, crocodiles, and elephants from a wide water canoe or on a sundown cruise is an additional highlight, as are guided nature walks in search of rarities like Pel’s fishing owls, African skimmers, and African finfoots. Back on the stunning Chundu Island, walk along the tranquil pathways to find a quiet spot where you will be able to relax with your book or cast a line out. The area is home to more than seventy-five species of fish including tiger fish and nimble bream. This is a dreamy spot for honeymooners or couples, especially after a safari in Zimbabwe or neighboring Zambia.

Chundu Island has its very own easily furnished open-air barge so that you can take in the colorful splendor of the stunning Zambezi River on a twilight cruise (including delicious cocktails as well as snacks). Alternatively, guests can settle in for picturesque sundowners at the lodge’s huge swimming pool and the spacious deck, before you finally take the dinner with gorgeous views over the breathtaking Zambezi River. The main lodge also has shared lounges, bars and wine cellars, fireplaces and large deck areas. An assortment of massage treatments can also be enjoyed privately in separate rooms or on the private viewing deck.
