Located in the heart of Tanzania’s ultra-famous Katavi National Park, Chada Katavi is a fashionable tented camp, situated off the downtrodden track in a countryside of stunning seasonal rivers, vast open plains and lush wood lands. From its raised vantage point, the lodge is flawlessly placed for panoramic views right over the Chada plain, whilst the awning of acacias, kigelias and tamarinds are a prevalent source of shade and food for the wild animals. Facilities

There is a mass of wildlife which resides in the valleys, wood lands and plains, most particularly, the remarkable concentrations of hippos and crocodiles, in addition to the last great herds of buffaloes in East Africa. Guests have the option to choose from safari drives in open four-wheel drive vehicles; walking safaris along with an armed and a highly professional guide; fly camping for the night under a dimly lit canopy of stars, or just enjoy soaking it all up from the tent verandah. However, it is also important to note that the camp only accommodates children over the age of eight.

Extravagant picnic breakfasts, mealtimes and lunches are served right under shady trees, which await your return from the morning’s safari viewing. Dinner time at Chada Katavi is a humble yet sophisticated affair. All guests at the lodge dine together on one long table, which is also perfect for sharing all the different stories of the day’s sightings.

Safari Tent

Chada Katavi offers six expansive walk-in tents, each one of them with the choice of either two twin beds or the double bed, with crisp, freshly painted white Egyptian cotton, and fine cabinets. Each tent has a secluded bathroom with safari toilets, and also bucket showers behind every tent with ample piping hot water. The large bathrooms also sport washstands, with pitchers of both, hot and cold water located in front of every tent.
