Ngorongoro Crater

The Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtakingly gorgeous setting and is also the best place in Tanzania if you want to see the Big 5. As one of the world’s most amazing and famous natural wonders, the Ngorongoro Crater attracts a lot of tourists.  Because of the huge crowd it attracts, we recommend a two night stay, and then moving on to the Serengeti for a calmer, and a more private safari experience.

Any Northern Tanzania Safari tour should ideally include a visit to Ngorongoro Crater as it is one of the most gorgeous natural wildlife safari destinations in the world and an excellent place to interact with people from the Maasai tribe.
The Ngorongoro Crater and the surrounding highlands form one of Africa’s most attractive regions.  Volcanic craters form dazzling backdrops to some of the lushest and richest grazing grounds for animals in Africa.

Since the wildlife present over here mainly dwells in the crater throughout the year, there is really no specific time during which you should visit the crater.  Nevertheless, given that the crater does get very busy with safari vehicles, it can be more enjoyable to visit during the low visitors season.
