Madikwe

Madikwe

Madikwe Game Reserve is, at present, the 5th largest game reserve and is also one of the lesser- known game parks present in South Africa. This makes the park a hidden- gem of Africa as it is known as one of the best preservation areas found in Africa and offers the Big Five in a 680 square kilometer park. The park offers tourists a number of comfortable lodges as well as district lodges in a clean and healthy environment.

The Big five is represented in this famous park and tourists are most likely to spot lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos or buffaloes during their stay. During their visit travelers will also have the extraordinary privilege of possibly having the chance to see the highly endangered species of the African Wild Dog.

Despite all the odds, the present day Madikwe has a flourishing wild dog populace with five hunting packs roaming freely around the park. The dogs are also accustomed to the safari vehicles thus offering stunning photographic opportunities for nature photographers. Madikwe Game Reserve’s preservation efforts to protect the ‘painted dog’ are in order to help conserve this regal diminishing species.
