Overview

Motswiri Camp lies on the banks of the Selinda Spillway, an ephemeral waterway that connects the Okavango Delta to the wetlands of the Kwando and Linyanti Rivers. A little-visited and somewhat mysterious region of woodland and open grasslands, it remains a great game viewing destinations in Botswana thanks to year-round water and hundreds of square miles of unspoilt wilderness teeming with wildlife.

Motswiri Camp is a small, environmentally-sustainable camp with five tented suites overlooking water. Largely solar-powered and staffed by guides and managers with many shared years of safari experience, the camp is an ideal destination for discerning travellers looking for a more exclusive Okavango Delta-style experience with a twist: located with access to a huge private concession, this is a camp that specialises in riding and walking safaris as well as canoe adventures.

Game drives and motorised fishing excursions are also offered.A fly-in destination, Motswiri Camp combines well with other similar camps in the Okavango Delta and Moremi Game Reserve. The camp welcomes children and has a tent suitable for a family; children 12 and over are permitted to go on horseback and walking safaris.

Motswiri Camp is a relatively simple accommodation and it has everything you need for safari comfort. The main lodge has a lounge complete with a large leather sofa and comfortable armchairs as well as a welcoming bar and dining area.

Outside you will find an outdoor lounge, viewing deck and dining area overlooking the Selinda Spillway as well as a swimming pool and shaded pool deck. Guests at Motswiri Camp enjoy a complimentary laundry service.The camp runs largely on solar power and there are no plug points in the rooms. Batteries and devices can be charged at main camp where there is a convenient range of plug adaptors.

Dining

Meals are served communally at the main lodge inside or, more often, outside.Your day begins with early morning tea and coffee served with a biscuit or two at your tent.

A light breakfast awaits you before your morning activity, after which you return to a wholesome lunch served with fresh salads and camp-baked bread. Guests may also enjoy a surprise bush brunch, served out in the reserve away from camp and under a shady acacia tree.

A traditional high tea is served before your afternoon activity, which also includes cold drinks and snacks at sunset. Returning to camp via a spot-lit drive, you have time to freshen up and share a few stories with fireside drinks before a 3-course dinner.

Rooms

Well spaced for privacy and raised off the ground for superb views from their verandas, the five tents at Motswiri Camp are large and airy, a clever combination of canvas, timber and insect-proof gauze to ensure complete comfort.Illuminated by solar power, each tent has twins or a double bed and plenty of convenient details like comfortable seating, a writing desk and luggage storage space.

The en suite bathroom comes with a shower and flush toilet. One tent is suitable for a family while another is known as the Honeymoon Suite, famous for its outdoor shower that looks out over the Selinda Spillway.
Other rooms

Motswiri Camp operates a fly-camp between April and November, offering a more rustic level of accommodation for the more intrepid safari traveller. Built into the itinerary of a longer walking and riding safari, the fly camp uses bucket showers, long-drop toilets and twin camp beds. Meals are cooked on an open fire.
