At Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve, expect all five senses to be awakened by your African bushveld experience – bush buck and nyala roam freely among the chalets.

You might hear the sound of lion, hippo, hyena, jackal and more calling out across the bushveld at night.

Cheetah Plains is one of the oldest bush camps in the Sabi Sand. Our emphasis is on offering guests traditional Safari values of comfortable accommodation, combined with great food, prepared around the campfire.

Excellent game viewing on 8 500 ha and friendly attentive staff will round off your safari. Cheetah Plains has only eight rooms & a Bush Cottage which ensures an exclusive Safari experience.

Standard Chalet

The six traditionally-thatched Standard Chalets at the Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve in Sabi Sands are set in the indigenous gardens, surrounded by the pristine African bushveld.
Each chalet features either a double bed or two single beds as well as an en-suite bathroom with shower, air-conditioning, mosquito net. The verandah provides beautiful places from where to enjoy the views over the garden and the untamed African bush.

Luxury Chalet

Each chalet has either one double bed or two single beds, as well as an en-suite bathroom. Additional amenities include mosquito nets and a private verandah. Luxury chalets have a beautiful outdoor shower where you can bask in the natural beauty that surrounds you.

The Bush Cottage

The Bush Cottage at Cheetah Plains offers a “home from home” accommodation solution for up to 4 people – perfect for romantic travellers looking for extra privacy or a family planning a safari.
The cottage has 2 separate bedrooms each leading to the outdoor verandah and into the lounge/kitchenette area inside the cottage. The shared bathroom includes a bath and shower and there is a separate WC leading off the lounge area as well.
Soak in the views of the surrounding bushveld and feel pampered in your own bush style cottage. Lazy days can be spent on the verandah looking into the surrounding bushveld or just listening to the birds’ glorious melodies.

Activities

Shortly before sunrise you are awakened with coffee and rusks and as the sun rises you set off on an early morning game drive.

The safari experience at Cheetah Plains is unique as game drives do not only concentrate on the ‘Big Five’, but also offer information about the reserve’s history and the life of local communities. Cultural visits of the local Utha and Dixie people are a unique opportunity to learn more about their life alongside wild animals.

Game drives are conducted in open safari vehicles with knowledgeable guides in search of the awesome wildlife in this prime game viewing area. Guests may not miss the magic of the African sunrise whilst departing on a morning drive.

Day game drives are the ideal photographic safari, during which experts assist you in capturing a picture-perfect setting.During night game drives, a spotlight is used to reveal the elusive nocturnal animals of Sabi Sands Game Reserve.
As birds and small animals are plentiful around the lodge guests may participate in a guided bush walk.
